BIO
Wenrui Iris
Studying for an MA in Interior Design at The Glasgow School of Art with a BA in Environmental Art Design from the City University of Macau 2:1. My interest in art and design ranges from space regeneration, to photography, oil painting, model making, graphic design and typography.
I have had a passion for art and design since childhood. My background and experience in art and design is based on my love of working on projects related to regenerating spaces for people with autism. My work shown on my website illustrates my dedication to creating inclusive spaces for people whose educational and environment needs to be tailored to their special needs.
A series of monomers
This is a project I did when I was in college. I tried to understand a space from the perspective of environmental design. This is a botanical garden, but there is no space associated with the crowd, and it cannot attract crowds. I tried three different designs. The building units are experimental display space, expansion space and rest space. They are distributed in the park and used by different groups of people. (Guardian staff, tourists, distribution staff)
Reconstruction of old space
This is an old city in Macau. There are a lot of historical buildings around. This space has been burnt down, and only the blue brick wall remains. After measuring this space on the spot, I think the space structure is complete, so I transformed it into a The coffee shop perfectly combines history and modernity.
An experiential space
This is a space for people to experience autism. The design is inspired by a video of autistic patients. They have excessive perception and discomfort to society under the appearance of normal people. They are ridiculed by normal people to cause inferiority and self-closing. Through this project, I hope to cause people to think deeply. This part of the group cannot be ignored by people. , People should learn to accept tolerance and empathize.
Space installation
This is a kind of creative thinking. The exterior design of this space installation is inspired by cell walls. Cells have various shapes and are closely related to space and function. Its tough and slightly elastic structure can protect cells. Therefore, the overall space design expands like two sides, giving people a new special experience.
Postgraduate Project
This area is an abandoned space that was originally used to pile garbage. I designed a trading space for second-hand waste products using detailed information on garbage in Glasgow and the UK as a starting point. Here, you can learn about the types of waste products and find the items you need for secondary use or exchange your own waste products for equivalent exchange.
